Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)

Que. Whether 50% Marks in Bachelor’s Degree means 50% in aggregate or 50% in Honours Subjects only?

Ans. The requirement of securing 50% marks in a Bachelor’s Degree refers to the aggregate percentage of all subjects studied throughout the course, rather than just the marks obtained in Honours subjects. This means that a candidate’s overall performance across all subjects, including core, elective, and additional subjects, will be considered while determining eligibility for admission to the B.Ed. course.

Que. If a candidate has 50% or more in aggregate in a Bachelor’s Degree but less than 50% in Honours Subjects, is he/she eligible for admission to the B.Ed. Course?

Ans. Yes, a candidate who has secured at least 50% marks in aggregate in their Bachelor’s Degree is eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course, even if their marks in Honours subjects are below 50%. The aggregate percentage is the primary criterion for eligibility, not the marks obtained in individual subjects, including Honours.

Que. If a candidate has less than 50% marks in aggregate in a Bachelor’s Degree but 50% or more in Honours Subjects, is he/she eligible for admission to the B.Ed. Course?

Ans. No, a candidate who has scored less than 50% marks in aggregate in their Bachelor’s Degree is not eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course, even if they have secured 50% or more in their Honours subjects. The eligibility requirement specifically mandates that the aggregate percentage of all subjects studied in the degree program must be 50% or above. Having 50% marks in Honours subjects alone does not fulfill this criterion.

Que. Is a BBA or BCA Degree holder eligible for admission to the B.Ed. Course?

Ans. Yes, candidates who have completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) are eligible for admission to the B.Ed. course, provided they meet the minimum aggregate percentage requirement of 50%. These degrees are considered equivalent to other undergraduate programs, making graduates from these streams eligible for pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), as long as they fulfill the necessary academic criteria.

Conclusion:

Understanding the eligibility criteria for B.Ed. admission is crucial for aspirants. The aggregate percentage in a Bachelor’s Degree is the primary determining factor, not individual Honours subject scores. Candidates from various academic backgrounds, including BBA and BCA, can apply if they meet the required 50% aggregate marks.
